The theme of the Teatro Colón’s 2021 season is “Word”. This wonderful vocabulary represents a sincere invitation for the 2021 season: back to the origin. It also tells everything about us and builds everything about us.

For the needs of pandemic prevention and control, the Teatro Colón has planned a restricted yet fantastic journey from the origin of art to the 20th century, taking on a journey of classic reproduction from Italian composer Monteverdi to Menotti.

The Teatro Colón invites the audience to enjoy the opera and ballet together. As the theme says, the theater would like to return to the classics, return to the moment of reunion, return to the moment of being touched by Giselle's romance, and return to the excitement of watching the Sleeping Beauty.

Similarly, the season will show the classics of Bach, Britten, Ginastera and Stravinsky through concerts. Among them, we perform Stravinsky’s works with respect to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death.

In addition, 2021 is also the 75th anniversary of the death of composer Manuel de Falla. The year 2026 marks the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth. To this, the Teatro Colón will launch the Falla Project lasting five seasons, telling the legendary experience of this extraordinary Spanish composer in exile and passing away in Argentina. The Teatro Colón, where he performed, has also become an important landmark since the 20th century.

Finally, this year the Teatro Colón will also celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra founded in 1946 and host a series of events.

The season also includes solo concerts, which is also a return to the tradition of the Teatro Colón. The performance works with international and domestic singers to actively explore the broad panorama of chamber music. Whether it is poetry or musical melody, the Teatro Colón is committed to creating a perfect fusion of word and music.
