On August 8th, 2020, the first concert of NCPA “Bright Autumn Cadenza” online series was staged in the Concert Hall, presented by the China NCPA Orchestra under the baton of conductor ZHANG Yi.

The concert was the first-ever stage performance live streamed in “8K+5G”. Prior to the concert, host BAI Yansong took a closer look at the world’s first “8K+5G” full-service OB van for ultra-high-definition (UHD) video.

NCPA stands committed to promote the application and innovation of UHD video technology in art communication and promotion. In 2019, NCPA achieved the world’s first “4K+5G” theatrical broadcast of drama commission The Railway to Tibet in the cinema, and produced the world's first 8K panoramic sound opera film The Dawns Here Are Quiet. In early August this year, the NCPA 5G network was completed and put into use for the first time in the “8K+5G” live streaming.

8K TVs and 5G mobile phones and other visual display terminals were set up in eight locations, i.e. the NCPA Blossom Hall, Financial Street Shopping Centre, and Wangfujing Street, where the public can view the “8K+5G” live-streaming concert. The concert was streamed on the NCPA Classical Music Channel and other 50 online platforms, including CCTV.com and Migu.cn.

The concert featured classics by composers from China and abroad, including Bach’s Chaconne in D Minor BWV1004 orchestrated by Japanese conductor Saito Hideo, Grieg’s Lyric Suite, Op. 54 and Smetana’s Vltava. Bamboo flute player CHEN Yue played Concerto on Chinese Themes by Chinese composer Julian YU.

My Motherland from the movie Triangle Hill and Long Live the People from soundtrack of The Birth of New China once again evoked the emotions of the audience. At the end of the concert, the orchestra rendered You and Me as an encore.

NCPA invited former female Chinese volleyball player HUI Ruoqi to visit NCPA and enjoy the concert in the NCPA Blossom Hall via an 8K TV.
