In the meeting on June 1st, 2021, the Berlin Senate decided on further easing measures due to the steadily falling and consistent low incidence. Stiftung Oper in Berlin is glad and proud to be able to open the opera houses in Berlin again, providing almost 50 percent of the available seats in the auditorium within the framework of the applicable hygiene regulations.
On 12th June, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden presented a fast paced interpretation of Puccini's La Fanciulla del West conducted by Antonio Pappano and with an exciting interpretation by Lydia Steier.
On the same day, the Komische Oper Berlin started with Mondnacht. Together with the Orchestra, the Choir of the Komische Oper Berlin presented an evening rich in suggestive sounds: the romantic composer Robert Schumann’s songs arranged by Choral Director David Cavelius with lighting by Klaus Grünberg, and enchantingly staged by Barrie Kosky.
Parallel the Deutsche Oper Berlin was able to finally show their first part of Wagner's Ring - Rheingold, directed by Stefan Herheim and conducted by Sir Donald Runnicles. The full cycle will be shown November 2021 for the first time.
Please find out more about the performances and specific hygiene measures on the websites of the respective houses.
