The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS), is one of eleven constituents of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the largest performing arts complex in the world. CMS has its home in Alice Tully Hall – the finest hall in the world for chamber music. Through its many performance, education, recording, and broadcast activities, it brings the exhilarating experience of great chamber music to more people than any other organization of its kind.
 
Under the inspired leadership of Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han, CMS presents a wide variety of concert series and educational events for all ages. The artists constitute the world’s finest chamber musicians, enabling CMS to present chamber music of every instrumentation, style, and historical period. Annual activities include a full season in New York, national and international tours, and broadcasts on PBS’s Live From Lincoln Center.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center returns to China for a six-city tour

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS), one of the largest and most influential chamber music organizations in the world, returns to China from November 29 to December 12, 2023, performing eight concerts in six cities, and conducting four master classes for conservatory students. The traveling ensemble is led by cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, co-artistic directors of CMS, who are joined by four stellar artists from CMS’s international and intergenerational roster of preeminent chamber musicians: clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester; violinists Chad Hoopes and Kristin Lee; violist Paul Neubauer. The tour in China is part of CMS’s robust program of touring concerts and residencies, which brings CMS musicians and the art of chamber music to cities and towns throughout North America and beyond.

CMS announces the Diamonstein-Spielvogel Initiative

  CMS announces the launch of the Diamonstein-Spielvogel Initiative for Music and Community Engagement, a two-year pilot program to bring CMS’s exceptional chamber music concerts, educational programming and world-renowned artists—for free—to under-resourced communities in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. CMS will present these free programs with three partner organizations: Harmony Program (a nonprofit that serves students with little access to music education), Brooklyn Public Library, and New York Edge (one of the city’s largest providers of after-school programs for children).
