OSESP Foundation will hold auditions for concertmaster

The São Paulo Symphony Orchestra Foundation (OSESP Foundation) invites applications for concertmaster.

1. Remuneration
Gross monthly remuneration:

(1) Salary of R$ 35,849.00 (thirty-five thousand eight hundred and forty-nine Reais), including aid for instrument maintenance of R$ 1,629.50 (one thousand six hundred and twenty-nine Reais and fifty cents), and related performance rights and authorization to disclose/publish the artist’s personal image of R$ 1,629.50 (one thousand six hundred and twenty-nine Reais and fifty cents);
(2) Terms of employment following the federal labor laws (CLT), 13th-month salary, paid vacation, and FGTS - Length of Service Guarantee Fund;
(3) Health insurance, dental plan, group life insurance, and private pension;
(4) Child day-care assistance (under OSESP Foundation’s internal contract policy);
(5) Payroll loan;
(6) Car parking at the Sala São Paulo venue;
(7) Monthly meal, transportation, and cultural voucher;
(8) SESC partnership – welfare services offered in many areas, such as health, leisure, culture, education, sport, tourism, and sustainability.

2. Dates of the Audition
September 26th (Mon), 2022.

3. Venue of the Auditions
The audition will be held at Complexo Cultural Júlio Prestes - Sala São Paulo (Praça Júlio Prestes, 16, São Paulo - SP).

Candidates are responsible for costs referred to their participation in the audition, including transfers, accommodation, and any other expenses.

4. Schedule
The schedule of auditions will be notified individually to each candidate after the conclusion of the “First Phase” of the selection process.

5. Applications
Applications will be accepted by email only between April 18th and July 24th, 2022.

6. Selection Process
First Phase

Candidates should send their CV, completed registration form, and video recording, via email, for the attention of the Artistic Department of OSESP Foundation. Candidates may be requested to send additional materials, including concert programs, letters of recommendation, and other documentary evidence. For the following phases of the audition process, only candidates whose profile is considered suitable by the Examining Board will be invited.

The list of candidates approved on the First Phase will be available on August 5th, 2022, at OSESP website: www.OSESP.art.br. Candidates will also be individually notified by email.

Second Phase
Candidates selected on the First Phase will receive an invitation to participate in the audition, to be held in two rounds, as follows:

First Round (September 26th, 2022, Monday)

During this eliminatory stage, the candidates will be submitted to an audition for an Examining Board, with three heads of sections of the orchestra, the Musical Director, and the Artistic Director of OSESP. This stage may be eliminatory or classificatory, following the Examining Board’s decision.

OSESP Foundation will make available a pianist to accompany candidates on the audition day. Candidates may also bring their own pianist, according to their choice.

Second Round (date to be announced)

The candidates selected in the previous round will be asked for an interview with the Directors of OSESP Foundation. Leadership abilities, academic and intellectual background; previous experience in music education; and communication skills (with other players as well as with the public at large) will be considered favorably in the candidate’s overall evaluation.

Third Phase

The selected candidate will perform as guest concertmaster with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra for the week of December 12th, 2022, conducted by the Music Director Thierry Fischer. Repertoire includes a commissioned work plus Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
The candidate will be duly compensated for this week.

7. General Conditions
The successful candidate will be subject to a probation period of up to two years with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra.

OSESP Foundation will provide the successful candidate with all information relating to the terms of employment, legal formalities, and other documentation needed for both Brazilian and foreign musicians.

All communication between OSESP Foundation and the candidates will be carried out and documented via email.
