In early 2020, we were hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The performance market has suffered a severe downturn and performing arts institutions worldwide have faced unprecedented challenges.
Challenges can be turned into opportunities. The NCPA took advantage of its own platform and the power of technology to inspire hope in the audiences through “online music appreciation”, “online performances” and “online exhibitions”.
On September 9th-10th, Beijing Forum for Performing Arts 2020 will be underway online. Hundreds of representatives from over 20 countries and regions on six continents will gather online. They’ll exchange their experiences on fighting the pandemic, share new approaches to arts communication, search for new ways to run a theatre, and discuss “Opportunities and Challenges Coexisting with the Pandemic”.
Four main topics will be raised—"Emergence and application of New Modes of Artistic Production", "Opportunities and Challenges of Online Streaming", "New Modes of Theatre Operation During the Pandemic", "New Prospect of Building a Community with a Shared Future for Theatres Around the Globe".
More than 40 representatives from renowned domestic art institutions, art troupes and art schools will also participate in the forum.
In order to share the outcomes with more performing arts practitioners and enthusiasts, the opening ceremony and keynote speeches of the forum will be streamed live on the NCPA Classical Music Channel, bjd.com.cn, news.sina.cn, news.qq.com, Kuaishou, Migu and many other online platforms.
