The NCPA International Opera Film Exhibition 2020 has successfully concluded. From October 29th to December 15th, the exhibition presented 14 excellent works from 10 arts institutions, with 221 screenings in the NCPA and Broadway cinemas in 8 cities, including Shanghai and Guangzhou. The exhibition received great support from partners home and abroad and widespread positive feedback from the audiences. International arts institutions including Royal Opera House (Covent Garden), Teatro Real, Seoul Arts Center, Teatro Regio di Torino and the Metropolitan Opera presented their classic films.

Since 2016, the NCPA International Opera and Film Exhibition has been held for five consecutive years, promoting the popularization of opera art in China, improving the production of opera films , and further enriching the cultural life of art lovers. This year, under the prevention and control of the COVID-19, opera film screening possesses more flexibility in program scheduling and venue layout than live performances. The screening has become a more critical way of the art communication and institutional cooperation, which helps the resumption of work and production in an orderly manner for the theaters and the cinemas.

This year, the exhibition received great support from Royal Opera House (Covent Garden), Teatro Real, and Seoul Arts Center, which, as the BFPA members, presented “Ll Barbie di Siviglia”, “Madame Butterfly” and Mozart's classic work “Magic Flute” respectively. The former two were screened for 34 times, with a total audience of nearly 3000 and a cinema sales rate of 100%. It was the first time for Seoul Arts Center to participate in the exhibition. Its “Magic Flute” was screened multiple times to the public in the NCPA and universities.
