The future of opera is forged at The Teatro Real

   This week saw the start of the IV Edition of Crescendo, an artistic and professional development programme for promising young opera, which will run until next May, promoted and organised by the Friends of the Teatro Real Foundation.

  

  The jury, made up of members of the artistic team of the Teatro Real, the Real Teatro de Retiro and Crescendo, has selected 18 young people, among the more than 100 who submitted their application, of which there are 12 singers, 3 pianists and 3 assistant stage directors, all under 35 years of age, from Spain, Italy, Venezuela, Argentina, Serbia and Kazakhstan.

  

  Throughout these three months they will participate in workshops, at the Teatro Real and at the Real Teatro de Retiro, on acting, vocal coaching, singing, meetings with professionals from the Teatro Real for guidance on the creation of personal branding (social networks, relations with the media, attention to the audience, etc.), a mental health workshop, They will attend dress rehearsals of the productions of the Teatro Real and, this year, they will enjoy a special session with the soprano Ermonela Jaho, who is currently at the Teatro Real performing Poulanc's The Human Voice.

  

  Information about these young artists, and videos of their auditions, are available on the Crescendo website so that the public can access them and vote for their favorite. The chosen one will receive an extra masterclass throughout these three months.

  

  Since its creation in 2021, the Crescendo programme has facilitated the participation of its students in professional projects at the Teatro Real. The participants in last year's edition have been the protagonists of the shows The Barber of Seville and Amahl and the night visitors, of the current season.
